[i have no idea where these images are from - i saved them on my harddrive before i was good at linking]

Things I like about this [line by line, left to right]

  • clean white lines but its still really warm and inviting; shabby chic-ness; arched dorways.
  • I think I would like these more in the bathroom; amazing use of space, the wall paper, fantastic inspiration board; ampersands and black and white photos are perfect together.
  • guest room loveliness; high beadboard walls and wood floors; vintage modern goodness.

Up for discussion.

Studio Inspiration

In getting back from vacation [which I do promise to post about] and getting ready for a long weekend, I've begun to think about the best way to utilze a small workspace.

Before flickr became my best friend I would just save images to my hard drive so unfortunately I don't have the original image links. I know that 2 & 3 are Martha Stewarts personal studio. The others...well make me wish I had a space like theirs!

Until then I am going to try and incorporate some great shelving for storage, a table to cut on possibly and am going to join the hoop-la.

It was my first trip.

I basically fell in love.

Downside: I was so overwhelmed by ALL of the lovely that the only thing I walked away with was a bath mat [that I thought was on sale but wasn't].

One day and a good nights sleep later I went back for round 2 and picked up this beauty.

The Malm. Oh how I love you so [even if I had to put every piece of you together all. by. myself.] With your black/brown stain and your deeper than deep drawers...we're going to be together for awhile. I hope you don't mind that you're going to be joined by your sister, the headboard with hideaway storage.

Don't worry Flokati rug, there is room for you too.

JAMES JOYCE

I am really liking these prints a lot. The one above and the one below I think would be perfect in a children's room. I love the black and white town ... and the teal and orange...well...just delicious.
Ah..still loving the teal and orange.
This one just bowls me over. It makes me think a million things about chemicals and being green and all that but most of all ... most of all it makes me think that it is the perfect print to brighten up a laundry room. I mean you should have something to look at and love while you're sorting mountains of clothing and stain treating the heck out of them right?

MILK BOTTLES

I've been seeing a lot of these lately. Honestly, they just do something to my soul. I love that you can put juice in them for the breakfast table or flowers to brighten your day or even crayons! So many great ideas and I am sure there are many more. Here are a few of my favorites:
Glass from Three Potato Four (8oz & 32oz sizes).

Porcelain (and we all know how much I love porcelain) from Alyssa Ettinger
(she never ceases to amaze me with her ideas).

Vintage bottles on eBay.
My dear friend Mary has gotten me all addicted to eBay.

If you're willing to do a little work and a little driving, get on craigslist and search for 'milk bottles.' I found these babies.
They are 45 min from my house and the whole shebang is $15.

If you're interested to read more about milk bottles and their popularity, you can read about them on wikipedia here.

LAUNDRY

{Photo via Apartment Therapy}

All I can say is WOW. What an awesome idea. I am going to file this photo away so that I can do this in my own home someday (visions of a laundry room like Martha's dance in my head).

I think I'd like this even more if there were small chalk boards over the industrial canvas baskets.

MAGAZINE-A-HOLIC

I've got a soft spot for magazines. Martha Stewart in particular and lately, Real Simple. Three years ago I got a Martha Stewart Living subscription for Christmas and I still receive this delightful treat in the mail once a month. I devour each issue like a piece of triple chocolate cake savoring each page. I take notes and dog ear pages before adding the issue to my growing collection. I cannot bring myself to throw them away which has brought me to my current dilemma. Where/How do I store them and for how long? I love these magazine holders from See Jane Work.
I have dreams of these organized by month filled with years and years of delicious ideas. Every month I could sort through dog eared favorites and new discoveries. Mmmmmm.

The other idea I have been contemplating is a series of monthly binders. These ones in particular (from See Jane Work).

With page protectors (of course).

I would put all of my favorites from different places, organized by month and have a gigantic resource of great ideas. Even the binders are pretty.

This is on my list of Spring Cleaning To Do List.

How do you organize the great ideas you've saved over the years?

CHARMING PORCELAIN KNITWARE

A knitter by trade (you can find my shop here Lux Risa) and porcelain lover by nature it was inevitable that I would adore these:

Brooklyn based artist Alyssa Ettinger designs amazing "knitware" porcelain pieces. I could not love them more. From the fine detail of the ribbed edge to the gathered round bottom each peice is not only a work of art but a perfect representation of knitware. I know that not only knitters will find these pieces charming and down right lovely.

You can find Alyssa's shop here.
