it is so easy in the summer to just let the warm days and sun take you away from the less fun things that you should be doing.
like laundry
and organizing
this weekend though, totally worth it.
my love took part 1 of the cpa exam which we celebrated with chocolate cake
my sweet little sewing machine made her way back home running like a dream after some much needed tlc.
dancing and laughing and complete joy at the wedding of a dear friend [mr. lemon pie and i, we love a good excuse to get all dolled up].
the new edition of a wii fit [which so kindly informed me that i need to get my butt in gear]
today. today is back to the grind.
and some serious planning to get back on track.

two things
two: i woke up this morning to find that my car had been broken into. ew. all they got was my GPS [a birthday present from mr. lemonpie because i am certainly directionally challenged] and my make-up bag [which was horrifying because it had EVERYTHING in it...and it is not cheap to replace.
thankfully they are just things. replaceable things that don't mean anything in the grand scheme.
the big thing today: mr. lemonpie's first hurdle and what i am sure will be triumph and that my friends is something to celebrate.

FILM
Honestly. I love Vermont.
It was my first time here and I loved every minute of it. The blue skies. The trees. Oh. The. Trees.
The awesome mountains. The entire ride on the highway was like one gigantic breathtaking view.
I really dont think I'd need to go anywhere else besides the beach maybe.
Beach chairs. Fire. Corona. Low tide. Good company. I am not sure that there is a better Friday night out there.
[as i said all the photos here are taken with film - a disposable camera nonetheless - i might need to break out my old 35mm ha!]

A QUICK QUESTION
Thoughts on this?

ERR..
The writers block that is.
Something happened last week - it was like all the words were just gone.
I'm pretty sure that it had something to do with time management.
And maybe a little something to do with still wanting to be on vacation.
But I am back, and I am here for good.
This weekend was a wonderful one filled with good friends, good family and good times. It was the perfect amount of relaxation and excitement. Last night I fell asleep feeling very content with it all. That my friends is how every Sunday should end - perfectly ready to face the coming week with vigor and excitement.

WALL.E
Last night I got home from work and instead of posting here, or on Kirtsy and instead of going to the gym, my mom and sister convinced me to go see Wall.E with them.
I am so glad I did.
This movie is one of the best I have seen in a long long time. Sweet and funny and 100% completely fascinating. I literally could not take my eyes away from the screen.
You have to see it.
Plus, it has robots in it and really, who doesn't love robots?

ON BEING NICE
The work of Banksy - author of infamous graffiti around London. First seen here and then found on BombDog's flickrKarey M. has me thinking about being nice lately.
Being nice I think is not always easy. Sometimes...well sometimes a case of the nasties gets in the way. Sometimes even when I have the nasties but try oh so very hard to be nice, nasty gets the best of me and I really don't like that.
You see, it is pretty hard to get me all worked up but once I am there...it is kind of like a tornado and without meaning to be nasty there I am. After all is said and done I always feel terrible awful. That I could have stopped that I should have stopped but right there and then I just wouldn't couldn't.
I always say I'm sorry...does that count as being nice?
So, I am [belatedly] joining the nice contest because really, being nice is way better than having to feel nasty about being naughty.

A LITTLE MORE
[Wrapping] Paper lined drawers [I can't remember where I saw this - my google reader? kirtsy? one of the two I am sure]. I like it - the paper is a reversible kind that you can order from school fun raisers, nice and heavy - I am thinking that I really want to do this in coordinating fabric though - in pretty yellows and greens to match:

This just makes me smile every gosh darn time I look at it. I am so lucky to have known my Great Grandmother, Alice, for such a long time. She was the epitome of a lady and she still knew how to have fun. To this day I can still remember the way her house smelled, how she had the same cookies in the cookie jar every time [Keebler fudge stripes], the way her skin felt all wrinkly and soft.
I grew up one street over from her and there was never a time that we were not visiting or she visiting us. A constant well of love, understanding and wisdom, I loved to sit and listen to her tell stories about her childhood, our family and of how much things had changed over the years - all while watching her hands as they click clacked with the knitting needles.
I think I could write about 'Great Gram' for hours.
This desk that she decoupaged is such a wonderful piece of her - it reminds me of where I get my creative streak and of how proud she'd be that I've continued on in something that was so very dear to her. One of the many reasons that what I do is so near to my heart.

SISTERS

I am so sorry to keep disappearing on you. This weekend my sister and I took a little road trip to New Jersey to see a few of our favorite bands. There was lots of laughing, lots or car karaoke and thankfully lots of sun. It was a two day music festival called The Baboozle and we'd been looking forward to it for months and months and months. We don't have pictures up yet but I will share them with you as soon as we do. People watching and the fascinating personalities were definitely highlights of the weekend.
The little note card above makes me smile because Becca and I are 10 years apart. You'd [usually] never know it though because we're that close. Sometimes I end up acting like her mom but, she always lets me know.
You can find this silhouette card as well as many others at Sarah + Abraham.

Currently waiting to post:
365: Out
Homemade Whoopie Pies
Maybe it is a good thing I cannot see the whoopie pies though. Weight Watchers started today so I am going to try to be really good. I'll be honest and say that I do let myself have things that I want because I would go crazy if I did not - I might not have the whole thing, but I will have a few bites.
Thank you so very much for your words of encouragement - you peeps are some of the nicest I've 'met.'
SimpleSong: I have been drinking the Maxwell House Blue Jar with light cream - delicious. A little birdie also told me that instant expresso is quite delicious too!
