playing catch up around here these days.

it is so easy in the summer to just let the warm days and sun take you away from the less fun things that you should be doing.

like laundry

and organizing

this weekend though, totally worth it.

my love took part 1 of the cpa exam which we celebrated with chocolate cake

my sweet little sewing machine made her way back home running like a dream after some much needed tlc.

dancing and laughing and complete joy at the wedding of a dear friend [mr. lemon pie and i, we love a good excuse to get all dolled up].

the new edition of a wii fit [which so kindly informed me that i need to get my butt in gear]

today. today is back to the grind.

and some serious planning to get back on track.

two things

one: mr. lemonpie is taking part 1 of the massachusetts CPA test today. i am crossing fingers and toes and saying lots of prayers. he has worked so hard studying and i am so proud that he is so dedicated to the things he loves.

two: i woke up this morning to find that my car had been broken into. ew. all they got was my GPS [a birthday present from mr. lemonpie because i am certainly directionally challenged] and my make-up bag [which was horrifying because it had EVERYTHING in it...and it is not cheap to replace.

thankfully they are just things. replaceable things that don't mean anything in the grand scheme.

the big thing today: mr. lemonpie's first hurdle and what i am sure will be triumph and that my friends is something to celebrate.

FILM

Honestly. I love Vermont.
It was my first time here and I loved every minute of it. The blue skies. The trees. Oh. The. Trees.
The awesome mountains. The entire ride on the highway was like one gigantic breathtaking view. I really dont think I'd need to go anywhere else besides the beach maybe.
Beach chairs. Fire. Corona. Low tide. Good company. I am not sure that there is a better Friday night out there.

[as i said all the photos here are taken with film - a disposable camera nonetheless - i might need to break out my old 35mm ha!]

3 DAY REPRIEVE

Things are going to be a little quiet over here at Chez Lemon Pie...I am headed up north to Vermont for a company off-site meeting.

I do however leave with with more new items in the shop.

And the promise of GREAT things to come upon my return.

Until then stay cool, stay dry...stay fly

A QUICK QUESTION

Why do Target models always have really terrible awful shoes that 90% of the time don't match what the model is wearing?

Thoughts on this?

ERR..

It has been serious.

The writers block that is.

Something happened last week - it was like all the words were just gone.

I'm pretty sure that it had something to do with time management.

And maybe a little something to do with still wanting to be on vacation.

But I am back, and I am here for good.

This weekend was a wonderful one filled with good friends, good family and good times. It was the perfect amount of relaxation and excitement. Last night I fell asleep feeling very content with it all. That my friends is how every Sunday should end - perfectly ready to face the coming week with vigor and excitement.

WALL.E

Last night I got home from work and instead of posting here, or on Kirtsy and instead of going to the gym, my mom and sister convinced me to go see Wall.E with them.

I am so glad I did.

This movie is one of the best I have seen in a long long time. Sweet and funny and 100% completely fascinating. I literally could not take my eyes away from the screen.

You have to see it.

Plus, it has robots in it and really, who doesn't love robots?

SORRY ABOUT THAT

I took an inadvertent hiatus this weekend.

I'll be posting a humdinger later so...stay tuned!

ON BEING NICE

The work of Banksy - author of infamous graffiti around London. First seen here and then found on BombDog's flickr

Karey M. has me thinking about being nice lately.

Being nice I think is not always easy. Sometimes...well sometimes a case of the nasties gets in the way. Sometimes even when I have the nasties but try oh so very hard to be nice, nasty gets the best of me and I really don't like that.

You see, it is pretty hard to get me all worked up but once I am there...it is kind of like a tornado and without meaning to be nasty there I am. After all is said and done I always feel terrible awful. That I could have stopped that I should have stopped but right there and then I just wouldn't couldn't.

I always say I'm sorry...does that count as being nice?

So, I am [belatedly] joining the nice contest because really, being nice is way better than having to feel nasty about being naughty.

HARD DRIVE ARCHIVE

Found this one in the depths of the hard drive. From last summer...or maybe the summer before?

The scene: Camping and lounging in new chairs...chit chatting the day away. All of a sudden my brother jumps up and runs for his life. A killer bee was the culprit.

This still makes me laugh.

BABY LOVE

I would only participate in activity like this during 90 degree weather for these two little gals. You know why? They've got my heart wrapped around their baby fingers.

A LITTLE MORE

A new little space to hold all [or some] of my mostly used tools. That little green lid is a jar filled with buttons and darning needles and stitch markers. lux risa Moo cards that always make me smile [I am glad I ordered more]. A pattern piece that has fallen to the wayside. Disappearing ink used mostly for embroidery but sometimes in my sewing. That do-dad that looks like a ruler is one of the best tools I have ever purchased - it is used to make sure your hem/edge is straight [goodness knows I need that].

I am still putting together all of my notions [apparently I like to spread them out in different places]. The beginning of the spot that will house my thread. I love thread. I buy it even when I don't need it. Ribbon...don't get me started on the ribbon. A few of my favorite snippets are living there at the moment.

Scissors x2 + hammer + ruler. Blue scissors are for paper only and the fancy purple ones are for fabric. My mama always said you need 2 pairs. What I am really coveting are these.
Oh how lovely. I am also a paper craft addict and that little hammer is the best thing ever when it comes to adding eyelets and other embelishments. [Note: it is also fantastic for putting together Ikea dressers]

[Wrapping] Paper lined drawers [I can't remember where I saw this - my google reader? kirtsy? one of the two I am sure]. I like it - the paper is a reversible kind that you can order from school fun raisers, nice and heavy - I am thinking that I really want to do this in coordinating fabric though - in pretty yellows and greens to match:

This just makes me smile every gosh darn time I look at it. I am so lucky to have known my Great Grandmother, Alice, for such a long time. She was the epitome of a lady and she still knew how to have fun. To this day I can still remember the way her house smelled, how she had the same cookies in the cookie jar every time [Keebler fudge stripes], the way her skin felt all wrinkly and soft.

I grew up one street over from her and there was never a time that we were not visiting or she visiting us. A constant well of love, understanding and wisdom, I loved to sit and listen to her tell stories about her childhood, our family and of how much things had changed over the years - all while watching her hands as they click clacked with the knitting needles.

I think I could write about 'Great Gram' for hours.

This desk that she decoupaged is such a wonderful piece of her - it reminds me of where I get my creative streak and of how proud she'd be that I've continued on in something that was so very dear to her. One of the many reasons that what I do is so near to my heart.

TRUE TO LIFE?

Last night I had a dream that my google reader had 863 unread items.

Thankfully this morning when I woke up it was only at 65.

SISTERS

I am so sorry to keep disappearing on you. This weekend my sister and I took a little road trip to New Jersey to see a few of our favorite bands. There was lots of laughing, lots or car karaoke and thankfully lots of sun. It was a two day music festival called The Baboozle and we'd been looking forward to it for months and months and months. We don't have pictures up yet but I will share them with you as soon as we do. People watching and the fascinating personalities were definitely highlights of the weekend.

The little note card above makes me smile because Becca and I are 10 years apart. You'd [usually] never know it though because we're that close. Sometimes I end up acting like her mom but, she always lets me know.

You can find this silhouette card as well as many others at Sarah + Abraham.

A QUICK UPDATE

Things that have happened since Friday at chez Lemon Pie:
Healthier eating (kind of)
Bruins in GAME 7. Holler.
Ironed an inhumane amount of fabric
Cut out a 20 piece pattern
...and then cut out a romper, a dress and a pair of ruffle bums! yeah!

Things going on today/tonight:
Reading the new Martha Stewart Living Mag (there is a section on Lemons...)
Find a good recipe in everyday food that will last me a few days
4 new tires for the vehicle. Yup, I said 4.
Sewing, sewing and a little knitting
Chili cook-off prep

Whew.

This obv. means that there will be pictures soon right??

A FEW MORE NOTES

Update: I found my camera cord but, someone snagged the batteries. I am popping out hopefully tonight to snag another pack of rechargeables...until then I am still picture free.

Due to the camera debaucle, I am a few days behind 365 but, I will make up for it.

I think I have already mentioned this but, May 9th there will be a shop update! Dresses and ruffle bums for the girlies; rompers for the boys!

The comming week will be filled with lots of progress - I'll give a few sneak peeks before I reveal the whole shebang on May 9th.

Things to look forward to:
Long walks
Good movies
Lots of sewing
Wine
Sleeping in a little
Lots of blogging
Possibly a playlist

REALLY?

I lost my freaking camera cord. What?

I won't have pictures until I can find the dang thing.

Currently waiting to post:

365: Out
Homemade Whoopie Pies

Maybe it is a good thing I cannot see the whoopie pies though. Weight Watchers started today so I am going to try to be really good. I'll be honest and say that I do let myself have things that I want because I would go crazy if I did not - I might not have the whole thing, but I will have a few bites.

Thank you so very much for your words of encouragement - you peeps are some of the nicest I've 'met.'

SimpleSong: I have been drinking the Maxwell House Blue Jar with light cream - delicious. A little birdie also told me that instant expresso is quite delicious too!
